Dr. Wright graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee and received his medical degree with high honors from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He is board-certified in dermatology and fellowship-trained in Mohs micrographic surgery having completed his dermatology residency and fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at one of the country’s most rigorous and prestigious training programs at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
During his training, Dr. Wright received the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award, the highest award given to a resident or fellow at Mayo Clinic, as well as multiple awards within the Department of Dermatology for excellence in patient care, education, and research. He served as Chief Resident during his final year of residency training and is an accomplished speaker and contributing author on many abstracts and clinical publications. His training has prepared him to treat non-melanoma skin cancers, melanoma, and multiple rare tumors with the Mohs technique and perform complex reconstructive surgery. Given the scarcity of fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeons, Dr. Wright is excited to have the opportunity to bring this expertise to the Knoxville area. He practices general dermatology in addition to Mohs surgery and enjoys seeing patients of all ages.
Dr. Wright is joined in town by his wife, Sampy, and their son, Eli.
