    Project Description

Botox cosmetic treatment is an extremely popular nonsurgical treatment for facial wrinkles. Millions of patients, both men and women, use it every year to temporarily relax the facial muscles around wrinkles, making them less noticeable. Botox Cosmetic is the most frequently performed procedure in our Knoxville office. In the right hands, Botox can provide spectacular results, providing a more youthful, happier and confident look. Botox cosmetic treatment is administered by our board-certified dermatologists to guarantee superior, longer-lasting results. Contact our office today for a free Botox consultation with a Knoxville Institute of Dermatology physician.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What exactly is Botox and how does it work?2017-07-19T16:41:40-04:00

Botox is a highly purified protein that prevents unwanted muscle contraction. Many people subconsciously furrow their brow, especially when they are tense, which results in facial wrinkling. Crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes and forehead creases are other examples of this type of wrinkling. Working by minimizing unwanted nerve signals for a muscle to contract, Botox can be compared to a cut-off switch between an electrical cord and a lamp. Electrical energy must reach the lamp for the light to turn on just as a nerve signal must reach a muscle for it to contract. Botox minimizes the wrinkling effects of these muscles, thereby giving the skin a smoother and more youthful appearance.

    Who should administer Botox?2017-07-19T16:42:07-04:00

Botox Cosmetic is available to any licensed physician. However, for best results you should always trust your skin to a physician with specific training in cutaneous and aesthetic medicine, such as a board-certified dermatologist. Drs. Anderson and Rahman are two of the few doctors in Knoxville to become a member of the Botox Cosmetic Physicians Network, a select group of physicians the maker of Botox recognizes as an expert in facial aesthetics.

In many offices in Knoxville, physicians delegate the injection of Botox to technicians who may have minimal or no medical training. You may have also seen “medi-spas” popping up throughout the Knoxville area. Many of these centers do not even have a physician on the premises! Recent articles in The New York Times and CNN stressed the importance of having a qualified physician administer your treatments, stating it is “crucial that people check the credentials and experience of those who offer cosmetic treatments”. It is vital that you insist on having a highly qualified, specifically trained providers perform your Botox injections. Trust your skin to Knoxville’s leading experts in Botox Cosmetic!

How long will it take before I notice results?2017-11-07T19:59:50-04:00

The initial results are visible within three days and typically last three to four months. You may notice that your first treatment does not completely eradicate your frown lines or other wrinkles. This is because every patient requires an individualized treatment and initial under-treatment is much better than over-treatment. Drs. Anderson, Rahman and Wright will adjust your future treatment based on your initial results. After three to four months your treatment effects will start to wear off. Most patients schedule follow-up visits every three to four months for re-treatment.

    What is the treatment like?2017-07-19T16:42:50-04:00

Botox is injected with a very tiny needle into the specific area being treated. No anesthesia is needed, as pain is very minimal. Most patients liken the injections to a light “pinch”.

How long will my treatment take?2017-07-19T16:43:10-04:00

Botox can usually be administered in less than ten minutes.

Will there be any downtime after the treatment?2017-07-19T16:43:30-04:00

There is no downtime following your treatment. You can return to work or your regular activities immediately. Occasionally mild bruising may be visible at the treatment site. You should not lay down or exercise strenuously for several hours following your treatment. Take care not to rub or massage the treated area immediately after the injection.

Why do some Botox users look “strange” or “expressionless”?2017-11-07T19:58:25-04:00

Under-trained or inexperienced physicians can leave a patient with a “blank” and “expressionless” appearance. Only by careful analysis can a specifically trained physician determine how much Botox will give you the results you want without overdoing the procedure. The ideal result is youthful and fresh while still allowing natural expressions.

Our physicians will ask you to frown, squint, smile, and even contort your face to determine your individual muscle intensity. This is important in determining both treatment placement and dosage. You will never be rushed through your appointment.

    WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY

I was so pleased with everything. Dr. Wright is such a nice person and wonderful doctor. Brittany was so pleasant and friendly. They offer blankets and pillows and make sure throughout the entire procedure that you are comfortable and that you are as pain free as possible. Everything went well and they go out of their way to make it so.
    Marianne D.

I had a recurring dermatological condition for several and a series of dermatologists as a result. And yet until I met Dr. Wright, my condition remained undiagnosed and it turned out to be potentially life-threatening. I am so fortunate to have found him and I would not go to anyone else and recommend him often.

    Donald B.

What a great experience! I was greeted promptly and courteously by the front desk staff. I was seen almost immediately and treated with care and concern by both Devon and Dr. Wright. I will certainly make KID my home for dermatology and would highly recommend them to everyone.

    Penny F.

Dr. Adam Wright took his time to explain the procedure, perform the surgery, and teach how to care for wound afterwards. I have found few physicians take such time with their patients and I am a registered nurse.

    Laurie J.
Dr. Wright listens, answers questions, gives understandable explanations, presents options. I consider him an outstanding physician, and his nurse is also excellent. The use of technology is also very good. BTW, my rating on the facility pertains to the Lenoir City location. I would rate the Knoxville location Excellent.
    Jane R.
I tend to avoid doctors if I can. And I have never left a review for any medical person or facility. But Dr. Wright made some uncomfortable symptoms easy to discuss and then was able to offer excellent options for resolving those issues. I would send anyone I care about to see him for any sort of skin-related complaint. He is the best!
    Sean M.

This was my first visit with Knoxville Institute of Dermatology, and my first visit with Dr. Wright. Dr. Wright seems like a very knowledgeable, caring doctor, who explains things well, and seems to care very much for his patients. I already have an appointment in a year to see Dr. Wright again for a check up. Since I live in Crossville it is also much more convenient to be able to see him at the Lenoir City office.

    Barry S.
Thank you for the convenience of visiting this office in Lenoir City rather than going out of town. I received a thorough examination and treatment. I received reference material about the condition to read at home. Dr. Wright took the time to welcome me back and offer to help anytime. Who does that? I appreciate all of this. I have found myself a new dermatology center!
