Dermatologists have dedicated their careers to understanding the structure and function of the skin. However, skin pigment is just part of the story for our black and brown patients, who experience disproportionate stresses, challenges, and disparities that negatively impact their health and well-being.
As protests rage across the United States, we express sympathy for our colleagues, patients, and all people who face discrimination based on skin color.
We stand in solidarity with them in the call for true equality of care, justice, and opportunity.
The Physicians at Knoxville Institute of Dermatology support this message from the President of the American Academy of Dermatology.
